Fr. Babu Thattil CMI, a Roman Catholic Priest, was born on 15th of November 1965 at Varakkara, a village in Trichur District, Kerala. After completing his high school education in 1981, he joined the CMI (Carmalites of Mary Immaculate) religious congregation of the Roman Catholic Church and was ordained priest on 3rd of January 1996. For two years he worked as the Junior Principal of Viswadeepthi Hr. Sec. School, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu. He was the Principalof Carmel CMI School, Shoranur, Christ Matr. Hr. Sec. School, Poonamallee, Chennai, Carmel International School, Hosur, Bharathamatha Hr. Sec. School, Palakkad, Bharathamatha CMI Public School, Palakkad and the founder Director of Bharathamatha College of Arts & Science, Kozhinjampara, Palakkad. He was also the founder executive member as well as the Joint Secretary of the Confederation of Tamil Nadu Minority Schools, which was the first attempt of its kind in the country. He served as the provincial auditor and the provincial councilor for education of Coimbatore CMI Province, during the period 2002-2005 and 2005-2008 respectively. Fr. Babu Thattil is an educationalist and has introduced many innovative ideas in the field of education. He was also instrumental in setting up the curriculum for Kindergarten School and also published a book with 26 stories. He has authored six books both in English and Malayalam. Fr. Babu Thattil is a good organizer and has conducted many programs of which the most important one was the ‘Christ School Run’, a mini marathon held at Marina Beach on 28th February 2010 in support of the HIV affected children in collaboration with Y’s men international and Hindustan University, Chennai. He has visited Europe and collected different views and ideas on education. The administrative building of Carmel School, Shoranur, Kerala and Bharathamatha College of Arts and Science building are land marks of his architectural sense.
