Dr. Subhash Chandra Roy is Professor of Law and Dean Research & Development in Chanakya
National law University Patna.He did his Graduation, Post-graduation and Doctorate from T.M. Bhagalpur
University in ‘English’ literature’ and ‘Law’, (Ph.D.-IPRs). Before joining academics, he joined Bar at Bhagalpur
district court and practiced for five years. Dr. Roy is an academician and believes in the cult of student – ‘a
disciplined learner’. Besides teaching in Chanakya National Law University, he has been visiting professor in
PUSA Agriculture University (Bihar), National Institute of Pharmaceutical and Research (Bihar) Hajipur, Bihar
Judicial Academy, Patna, Bihar Public Administration Academy WALMI Patna, National Institute of Rural
Development (NIRD) and Environmental Science P.U.. He has addressed the Insurance trainees at various
Insurance Training Institutes in Patna, HRDC- RC and OP participants at ASC Lucknow and Patna University.
He is qualified in licentiate and Associate (part) in Insurance from Insurance Institute of India (III) Mumbai
and Company secretaries (inter-part) exams. He has undergone online courses in Disaster management
from NIDM (New Delhi). He has undergone various legal training program in- Environmental Law, ADR,
Corporate Law, Labour and Industrial Law, IPR, Human Rights, Cyber Law, Research Methodology, Disaster
management, Consumer Protection from the reputed Universities and Academic Staff Colleges i.e. refresher
courses, professional development courses and legal training – BHU, Indian society of international Law
(ISIL), NLU New Delhi, NLSIU Bangalore, NUJS Kolkata, CNLU Patna, Allahabad university, ASC Lucknow,
ASC Kumaun University Nainital (UK), Indian Institute of Public Administration New Delhi, NIRD Eastern

Chennai, Dept. of Law Trivandrum University Kerala. Dr. Roy has credit of participation and presentation of
research papers in more than 100 National as well as International seminars /workshops in India. He has
delivered Keynote address and chaired the session’s at–BHU, Gorakhpur University, Gwalior University, North
Hills University, Meghalaya, Jabalpur University and Bareilly and Jagran University Bhopal in seminars. He
has been seminar coordinator also. His research papers are published in journals –Dr. Ambedkar Journal of

seventy two. He is advisor and editor of National journals also. He has authored books –“Lectures on
Intellectual property Law”, “An analytical study of Intellectual Property Rights in India”, ‘Oscar Wilde: Legal
Wits and Conversation’;and books edited - “Intellectual Property Rights—A Prismatic View”, “Working of
Patents: Law and Pharmaceutical Implications”. He is Coordinator-Academic and Research (from 2009-31st
March 2017) and IQAC at CNLU. He has supervised LL.M. dissertations. He has supervised and produced
two Ph.D. Dr. Roy has been member of various Academic organizations/committees / associations in India-
Indian Society of Criminology, Indian Society of Labour Economics, Indian Council of Arbitration, IIPA etc. The
hunger for learning is continued with a mission to build up ‘entrepreneur-professionals’ in the University and
has been encouraging young teachers for research and training.
