When Lovers Leave and Poetry Stays is collection of forty poems. The work reflects my ordinary and solitary life as a young woman in India. I have shared my meditations on love, relationships, desire, body, career, travel, creativity and literature. As the title suggests, my poems originate in aloneness and yearning. I have not unlayered myself in this collection but artified portions of me in words that many women might relate to. These poems will take readers into the multiple of scapes emotions defined by a woman’s poetic consciousness and the cultural air of contemporary times.
