'Underutilized fruits are less-known, less appealing, less-exploited fruits which are generally used is smaller locality or region. These are rich is many vitamins, nutrients and nutraceutical compounds. The underutilized fruits may be categorized in two groups i.e. indigenous and exotic. Tripathi is working as Head (IC), Division of Plant Genetic Resources, IIHR, Bangalore. He worked as Scientist, Senior Scientist, and Principal Scientist, Section In-charge, Head, Regional Station and Krishi Vigyan Kendra in different ICAR institutes and SAUs. He has been associated with more than 25 research projects including 10 externally funded projects. He released four varieties of fruits and identified 10 promising lines of underutilized fruits and develops 6 prototypes of equipments and 10 production and post- harvest technologies of mango, onion and garlic etc. Last ten years, he is working on underutilized and wild fruits. He published more than 100 research papers, 129 research abstracts, 49 popular articles, 40 technical bulletins, 5 books, 30 book chapters etc. He is associated with several professional societies and received several awards.
