The purpose of this Handbook is primarily to help the Pastors of the Church of North India-Bishops, Presbyters and Deacons, in their pastoral ministry. It is for their guidance, but it may be useful to others as well. The Pastor's Handbook is not a revision of the former books but a new compilation along similar lines and often drawing material from them. This Handbook, however, starts from within the setting of the Church of North India and comes into being after forty two years of living together in the Church of North India. So this Handbook goes forth to the Bishops and other Pastors of the Church of North India, many of whom have helped to make the Handbook by asking questions. It is hoped that it will be helpful to them in their pastoral ministry to those committed to their care.
